People For the American Way was founded in 1981 by Norman Lear, Barbara Jordan, Father Theodore Hesburgh, and Andrew Heiskell. The following Statement of Purpose was adopted by the founders and other civic, religious, and business leaders who comprised the initial Board of Directors. In times of hardship, in times of crises, societies throughout history have experienced wrenching dislocations in their fundamental values and beliefs.... We are alarmed that some of the current voices of stridency and division may replace those of reason and unity. If these voices continue unchallenged, the results will be predictable: a rise in "demonology" and hostility, a breakdown in community and social spirit, a deterioration of free and open dialogue, and the temptation to grasp at simplistic solutions for complex problems. People For the American Way was established to address these matters.

Established in 1888, South Pacific Division is one of the Corps’ eight regions nationwide. Four operating Districts, headquartered in Albuquerque, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco, provide federal and military engineering support in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and in parts of Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Texas. The civil works program is oriented around major watersheds in the region and leverage federal resources for navigation, flood damage reduction and ecosystem restoration. Fifteen of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States are in this diverse region where water resources are a key limiting factor. Much of the region gets less than 20 inches of precipitation a year, however when it rains it pours. Major floods are a threat to life and property. The Corps uses a watershed approach to flood damage reduction that takes into account issues such as water supply and ecosystem restoration. Major river basins include the Sacramento, San Joaquin, Santa Ana, Colorado and Rio Grande, which are governed by complex water rights. Water resources are vital to agriculture, urban development, natural ecosystems, and Tribal interests. There are more than 300 threatened and endangered species in the region. We issue regulatory permits under the Clean Water Act for development occurring in the nation’s waters and wetlands, balancing environmental stewardship with the need for economic and urban growth. The Corps works in partnership with other federal agencies, state governments and local communities on collaborative solutions to these complex water resource issues.

BOYS, BOYS, BOYS! Violence, car games, and way more. Are YOU READY TO ROCK!!? Some games include was simulations. You are a cdharacter in the war and get to choose your armor and defense. It's violent, but it's only virtual and it's all in fun. Nobody really gets hurt. Some games are sports and in arenas. You might get killed but only online and you get to have another life and play again. Most games have you start with three lives, and that's two more than the real thing. Don't try this at home!!
Now you can also look at Class 5-302A's funny videos made for a contest titled "BrainyFlix". We were supposed to define SAT words and make a humorous video about the word. Vanessa & Latanya made a video for the word "Intrepid" and it rocked! Watch them now! Maria and Siva have a video for "Pugnacious" which is an editor's top pick. Want to know what "rancid" and "abduct" mean? We have videos for that. Raheel and Shalom made a video so we'll understand what "juvenile" means. Michaela is unique -- and so is her video and "embellish" your life with Gagandeep's definition (and video design). Don't know what "canvas" means? Anton and Aaron will show you. We all use an "alias" online but Isha has perfected with her video definition.

Some of these are animals that are hybrids, combinations that science has yet to categorize. We believe that they exist somewhere in this world. This is a field that combines fact and fiction and you sometimes have to suspend belief. For example, some charts include information about if the cryptids if they have been identified their scientific name, and where they were discovered.

Library of Congress houses an entire section on political cartoon and American history. The cartoons include poking fun at various times in history satirizing American presidents, political events, news, people -- everyone is fair game and it's funny. You need to keep your sense of humor handy and have a thick skin because some people who are satirized don't have a sense of humor. Others are offended, but the satire isn't limited.
On these websites, you can look at photos and video of buses, trains, planes, and boat from around the world. Also, you can see which transit lines in different cities might have service changes in the next few months, or which line might have construction being done on it. NYC mass transit is a major part of this and people are going online to learn about new services, ways of making purchases, and the "going green" initiative, especially with new hybrid buses and NYC's efforts to put them in service.

The Foreign Relations of the United States series is the official documentary historical record of major U.S. foreign policy decisions that have been declassified and edited for publication. The series is produced by the State Department's Office of the Historian and printed volumes are available from the Government Printing Office. FRUS begins with the administration of Abraham Lincoln in 1861. There are two cumulative indexes covering 1861-1899 and 1900-1918. The organization of FRUS is generally chronological, but the dates of the volumes do not necessarily reflect the dates of documentary history. For example, the volumes for 1900-1918 do not include the records dealing with World War I or the Russian Revolution. Each volume has a subject and author index. There is also typically a table of sources and abbreviations at the beginning of each volume. The treasures in this system – the first of its kind in the world –have been set aside by the American people to preserve, protect, and share, the legacies of this land. People from all around the world visit national parks to experience America's story, marvel at the natural wonders, and have fun. Places like the Grand Canyon, the Statue of Liberty, and Gettysburg are popular destinations, but so too are the hundreds of lesser known yet equally meaningful gems like Rosie the Riveter in California, Boston Harbor Islands in Massachusetts, and Russell Cave in Alabama. The American system of national parks was the first of its kind in the world, and provides a living model for other nations wishing to establish and manage their own protected areas. The park service actively consults with these Nations, sharing what we've learned, and gaining knowlege from the experience of others. Beyond national parks, the National Park Service helps communities across America preserve and enhance important local heritage and close-to-home recreational opportunities. Grants and assistance are offered to register, record and save historic places; create community parks and local recreation facilities; conserve rivers and streams, and develop trails and greenways.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the Department of Energy’s largest science and energy laboratory. Managed since April 2000 by a partnership of the University of Tennessee and Battelle, ORNL was established in 1943 as a part of the secret Manhattan Project to pioneer a method for producing and separating plutonium. During the 1950s and 1960s, ORNL became an international center for the study of nuclear energy and related research in the physical and life sciences. With the creation of DOE in the 1970s, ORNL’s mission broadened to include a variety of energy technologies and strategies. Today the laboratory supports the nation with a peacetime science and technology mission that is just as important as, but very different from, its role during the Manhattan Project.
