Description: Web archive of http://wcm.ucalgary.ca/senate/ Excerpt from Home page: The Office of the Chancellor and Senate (OCS) supports the Chancellor in their role and acts as the secretariat for the University of Calgary Senate. The office supports a range of Senate programs, which enhance the connection between the University and the community. The Senate of the University of Calgary is an independent body of diverse community leaders and university representatives who are strong ambassadors for the University of Calgary. It is valued for the role it plays in promoting the University’s reputation and priorities, building long-term support for the University and developing and maintaining positive and productive community relationships to foster positive relations between the University and the public. Senate conducts most of its work through its committees. The Chancellor acts as the Chair of the Senate, presides over degree-conferring ceremonies at the university and acts as an ambassador in advancing the interests of the university and the post-secondary education sector.
