Description: Camosun Innovates, the applied research and innovation arm of Camosun College, is contributing their expertise and advanced manufacturing capabilities in the fight against COVID-19. Working at their campus facility and in collaboration with local industry partner AP Plastics, Camosun Innovates is producing thousands of medical grade face shields for local health care professionals on the front lines of the global pandemic. After consultating with Island Health, Applied Research Technologist Matthew Zeleny designed from scratch a new flat-pack version that Camosun’s facilities at the Babcock Canada Interaction Lab could produce at a rate of 90 per hour rather than 10 per day using their industrial 3D printer.

This method works as well as the nasopharyngeal swab sample to detect COVID-19. Children and parents/caregivers should watch this video and children should practice the technique at home using water before the test. Wait at least two hours between practicing and doing the test as practicing could affect test results. Description: Perhaps my question yesterday was not straightforward enough. Today I got straight to the point: does the Minister of Health Adrian Dix acknowledge that COVID-19 is airborne? No answer - just spin. It is astonishing that what should be a simple question to answer leads to a contortionist act from our government. The WHO, Canada Health, and the international scientific community all agree that COVID-19 is airborne. It is crucial for this gov’t to recognize that COVID-19 is airborne because that creates a guiding point for decision making and measuring success. Ensuring every British Columbian has access to N95s becomes a priority. Acknowledging COVID-19 airborne means there is no excuse to not invest in better ventilation and HEPA filters in schools and healthcare settings. It sends a direct message to all health authorities to implement the necessary policies to combat airborne transmission. The COVID-19 pandemic is not over. Government needs to focus on protections for people. Clear information, reliable data, N95s, rapid tests, ventilation, filtration of indoor air.

Dr. Stanwick, VIHA's Chief MHO, says it's mostly due to the fact that the island didn't build up enough herd immunity from earlier waves (dubious), and is definitely not due to PH failures. / In contrast, Dr. Forrest, an ICU doctor in Nanaimo, paints a much grimmer picture. During a recent interview with @Protect_BC, he says his ICU continues to be "essentially overwhelmed," with many HCWs close to burnout. As long as case numbers are high, ICU capacity is in danger. / In summary, you have a BCPH official saying this is becoming a "casedemic" and not to worry, while an ICU doctor who treats actual COVID patients continues to sound the alarm about the dangerousness of the situation with respect to mortality and overall hospital capacity."

Description: Sonia Furstenau on Twitter: "Today in Question Period I again asked @adriandix if his gov’t is collecting #LongCovid data, if they are working to help those affected by chronic symptoms, & if they will listen to #bced calls for more safety measures. I didn’t really get an answer to any of the Qs. 1/ #bcpoli Instead he noted other figures, programs gov’t is funding and reiterating the seriousness of the virus. This misses the point as to why collecting #LongCovid data is so important - because it allows us to create better policy and increases trust in gov’t decision making. 2/ If you want to read the full thread on today's Question Period or the rest of the work we do in the House follow the @bcgreencaucus ! 3/3 #bcpoli #COVID19 #LongCovid"
