Description: The Back Pack Project Victoria BC on Twitter: "I have just been informed that the tent that was being set up for people who tested positive for Covid and had nowhere to go was confiscated by Bylaw today. And all the supplies that I brought them last night are gone. 1/1 / I brought in two cots and one folding bed. Five heavy duty sleeping bags.Tarps blankets pillows and an assortment of household medical supplies such as a fingertip oxygen monitor, blood pressure monitor, masks gloves, hand sanitizer, all brand new. Gone. 1/2 / The person who is trying to put this together had all of their personal belongs in the second tent nearby. And it was confiscated as well. House keys, medication, and ID. Anything that was brand new in packages was taken, anything that was open or used was left on the ground 1/3 / After Bylaw left, I am told that they had to turn away seven people who were sick and looking for respite. They had to turn them away in the pouring rain. I am devastated and heartbroken and utterly shocked that we are so woefully unprepared and cruel. 1/3 / Make no mistake. This is a war on the poor. We are NOT all in this together. We have been allowing attacks and hate and stigma against marginalized vulnerable people to go on unchallenged for far too long. And people are suffering. Shame on us all. 💔 / And if the powers that be, come up with ANY solutions after today they need to KNOW THIS!….👉🏻 MATS ON THE FLOOR ARE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE IN A PANDEMIC! #HousingIsAhumanRight #HousingforAll #NoOneLeftBehind"
