Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN)

Archived since: Aug, 2021
Description: The Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN) was established by the National Museum of Ireland in 2009 to improve access to Irish history and heritage by helping communities share their collections online. It has been developed in partnership with participating local authority Heritage Officers and with support from Creative Ireland. In 2023, to facilitate an expansion of the initiative, the Heritage Council came on board as a new funding partner. This collection contains websites created by local communities documenting their own history, heritage and culture. It is a partnership with the Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN). Websites are selected for inclusion in the web archive by iCAN staff.
