Description: "Preservation Long Island is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization committed to working with Long Islanders to protect, preserve, and celebrate our cultural heritage through advocacy, education, and the stewardship of historic sites and collections. We were founded in 1948 as the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities in response to intense post-World War II development with a mission to preserve individual historic buildings and artifacts through the creation of house museums. In 2017, we adopted a new name to communicate our core mission more clearly. Today, Preservation Long Island advances the importance of historic preservation in the region through advocacy, education, and stewardship."
