Description: The Alabama National Guard Counterdrug Program (AL-CD) is a vital member of a coalition of National Guard members, law enforcement agencies (LEAs), and local communities, which are involved in a multi-front battle against drugs and drug-related violence. The mission of the program is to provide high-quality military personnel and equipment to support federal, state, and local drug LEAs as well as community based organizations that work to reduce the demand for drugs. The AL-CD currently consists of Army National Guard soldiers and Air National Guard airmen on full time active duty status in accordance with Title 32, Section 112, United States Code. These soldiers and airmen are from National Guard units throughout the state and perform counterdrug (CD) duties in a support role. Personnel strength is increased during marijuana eradication season or for special mission support.

Alabama's compensation law covers a variety of expenses for which compensation is paid. The Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission provides the only substantial financial compensation to victims for expenses for personal injuries including medical, funeral and counseling bills. This assistance lessens the financial burden on innocent victims of violent crime and serves as a vehicle of hope for the rights of crime victims. "It is the mission of the Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission to provide timely and efficient assistance to innocent victims of violent crime in a confidential manner. Initiates a network of local and community groups and child advocates to enable organizations to coordinate activities and assist and educate each other. Actively seeks and applies for federal and private grants to fund children’s programs. Reviews the budget requests for children’s services of state agencies that administer children’s programs other than education programs offered by Department of Education for K-12. Works with the state and county children’s policy councils and the state and county children’s services facilitation teams in order to ensure that a comprehensive coordinated effort is in place to provide for children’s services. Requests any state or local agency or department which administers programs that directly affect Alabama’s children to submit information deemed necessary to evaluate and assess the relationship between children’s programs and the effectiveness of those programs.
