Description: CVTC provides a full range of supports and services for persons with intellectual disabilities including Intermediate Care and Skilled Nursing living areas, an extensive array of day and evening activity programs, various clinical professional therapies as well as medical and dental services for the persons who live at CVTC. In addition, we operate a Regional Community Services Center dedicated to providing outreach services to persons with intellectual disabilities throughout the Central Virginia region.

Description: Archived website of the Northern Virginia Traning Center (NVTC). NVTC opened in April 1973 as one of five residential training centers in the Commonwealth to serve people with intellectual and related disabilities. The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDS) has been implementing a plan developed pursuant to Virginia Code §37.2-319 to move the Commonwealth toward its long-standing goal of a more fully-integrated community-based system of services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This plan required transitioning residents of NVTC to the community. NVTC closed on 31 March 2016. Description: The Institute was established in January 1968 as a short-term hospital to provide intensive treatment to individuals with acute mental health needs living in Northern Virginia. The hospital's physical plant encompasses a one-story brick structure with a basement area under approximately one-third of the building. All patient areas, as well as most of the clinical and administrative offices are located on the ground level, with a few additional staff offices and supply rooms located in the basement level.

Description: Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH) is a 135-bed geropsychiatric hospital, operated by the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS). It is the only Virginia state facility that exclusively treats elderly persons (65+ years of age) who are in need of inpatient treatment for mental illness; meet the requirements for voluntary or involuntary admission as determined by their mental health center (CSB) and do not have a medical condition that requires priority treatment in an acute care hospital. The hospital has been accredited since 1985 by the national accrediting agency, The Joint Commission.
