Description: In 2019 the Human Health Exposure Analysis Resource (HHEAR) Data Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai was established by NIEHS as a continuation of the CHEAR Data Center expanding to include health outcomes at all ages. The goal is to provide the research community access to statistical analyses and to make that data publicly available as a means to improve our knowledge of the comprehensive effects of environmental exposures on human health throughout the life course. The HHEAR Data Center goals are to catalyze new scientific insight from the colocation, integration and advanced statistical and data science analysis of multimodal data sets. It provides a data repository for storing epidemiologic and biomarker data for CHEAR and HHEAR research studies, publicly available deidentified datasets downloadable for external users, and a publicly accessible HHEAR ontology that provides a common vocabulary with unambiguous definitions of concepts and variables across studies to allow for pooling of studies.

Description: This website documents the Mount Sinai Medical Legal Partnership (MSMLP). MSMLP arranges for free legal services to the Mount Sinai Health System’s most vulnerable and needy patients to prevent and remedy the legal and social issues that often contribute to poor health. By addressing the non-medical determinants of illness, MSMLP is working to improve the overall health of our community and end the vicious cycle in which illness and disease are both cause and consequence of poverty. MSMLP integrates lawyers into the health care team to address unmet legal needs that may be affecting a patient’s health. The most common cases relate to income maintenance, housing, education and employment, legal status and personal and family stability. Many of our patients living at or below the poverty line seldom have access to a lawyer to address such critical matters.

Description: This site documents the activities of the Precision Immunology Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine (PrIISM) during the COVID-19 pandemic. PrIISM faculty, led by the institute’s Director, Dr. Miriam Merad, immediately began dedicated scientific studies aimed at finding better ways to treat COVID-19 and reduce the mortality rate of the disease. This includes comprehensive studies of the blood, cells, and tissues of infected patients and work towards novel or repurposed therapies and vaccines to treat COVID-19. The PrIISM team also worked to understand why some people, including some children, develop more severe COVID, how to treat people better to reduce disease severity, and to identify the factors that cause long COVID, in which some individuals retain disease symptoms for months after initial infection.

Description: This website documents the collective bargaining sessions from the perspective of the Mount Sinai Health System leading up to and during the 2023 nursing strike at the Mount Sinai Hospital. It also includes barganing rationale for Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. The New York Nurses Association struck for improved pay, better staff retention, and safer nurse-to-patient staffing ratios. Much of the site's content was taken down after the conclusion of the strike, but the versions archived prior to January 12, 2023 are complete.
