A-Sites: Archived Harvard Websites

Collected by: Harvard University Archives

Archived since: Mar, 2015

Description:

The Harvard University Archives is charged with collecting and preserving the historical records of the University. Much of the information collected for centuries in paper form now resides on University websites. Beginning in February 2007, we began the first phase of our effort to collect this information by harvesting websites from degree-granting departments and committees of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The University Archives now harvests websites from across the University, anywhere from monthly to annually. The list of sites collected continues to grow, providing a fuller picture of the Harvard webspace and of Harvard itself. HOLLIS catalog: http://id.lib.harvard.edu/alma/990115927020203941/catalog

Title: Catching the Wave : Photographs of the Women's Movement by Bettye Lane and Freda Leinwand

URL: http://catchingthewave.library.harvard.edu/

Description: Among the treasures in the Schlesinger Library are photograph collections that document the women’s liberation movement of the late 1960s and 1970s: images by Bettye Lane and Freda Leinwand, both of whom spent years capturing the moments, both big and small, that made up one of the most transformative times in U.S. history. In 2014, the Schlesinger Library was awarded a Hidden Collections grant by the Harvard Library. The grant allowed the Library to select, catalog and digitize images that depict the women's movement, approximately 4,000 of the total 40,000 images, including prints, negatives and slides, in the two collections. Both collections came with donor-supplied metadata that was repurposed and transcribed to create the catalog records. This website acts as a curated view into these images. Collected by the Harvard University Archives as part of the records of the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America.
