Hamilton: An American Musical

Collected by: Rooftop Alternative PreK-8 School

Archived since: Mar, 2017

Description:

Hamilton: An American Musical is a hit musical written and performed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a talented cast. The show, inspired by the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater in August 2015, with the first National touring company opening at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco in March of 2017. We chose to archive this musical because it brought out the confidence in youth across the country to stand up for what is right, which is important, especially considering the events occurring in the United States today. The thing that really stands out to us: Hamilton shows how history can speak to the current events happening in our country, and an exciting new work of art can bring out the creativity in all of us.

Description: Lin-Manuel Miranda, Renée Elise Goldsberry and a few other Hamilton stars turned the song, "The Schuyler Sisters" into a voting PSA that goes: "There’s nothing Americans love more than posting online who you should vote for. You tweet and you snap and you gawk, but if you don’t show up and vote, it’s all just talk."
