Year of the Doge

Collected by: University of Pittsburgh, School of Information

Archived since: Feb, 2014

Description:

A collection to document the doge meme that was popular in 2013-2014. As described, accurately, on Wikipedia in February 2014, Doge is an Internet meme that became popular in 2013. The meme typically consists of a picture of a Shiba Inu dog, often with text written in multicolored Comic Sans MS in the foreground. The text is deliberately written in broken English, following the format of such x, many x, very x and so x. The word wow is also commonly used. The meme also spread into broader internet and popular culture beyond digital pictures and animated gifs. This archive attempts to document the web-based evidence of this meme for posterity. Many websites. Such doge. So preserved. Wow.
