Description: The Iowa Records Committee was formed in 1982 to evaluate all evidence of birds in the state from the earliest literature to the present time and beyond. The committee's work provides a solid, scientific baseline for monitoring the status and distribution of species throughout the state. The committee works closely with the seasonal field reports editors, reviewing unusual speices and unusual dates to determine if enough evidence exists to enter the report into the permanent record. Description: This is archived web content. Captured website may not contain all formatting of original website. Crawled using the “Standard” setting, which captures an individual website beyond the first page without capturing externally linked sites. The COVID-19 pandemic reached the United States in the early months of 2020. Iowa State University began monitoring the situation around late February or early March, at which time this web page was created. The page was originally a small subsection under university safety updates, but it grew into its own page over the coming months as the pandemic began to disrupt daily life in more substantial ways and additional information became available. Over the Spring 2020 semester break (March 16-20), ISU sent all students home and moved all coursework online through the end of the summer sessions. On March 17th, all non-essential staff were asked to work remotely from home. Following extensive planning to ensure compliance with CDC recommendations, the campus re-opened and held in-person and hybrid classes in the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters. Additional modifications such as a condensed semester schedule, a new winter term, staffing rotations on and off site, virus testing, and on-campus quarantine and self-isolation accommodations came into existence during this time. In addition to updates about such arrangements, this page also contains some references to campus, community, and scientific innovation in response to the pandemic. The pandemic is still ongoing at the time of writing this. University-affiliated websites constitute institutional records, which the Iowa State University Archives collects in accordance with state and federal laws.
