Description: The website of the Eldridge Hotel, an historic hotel in downtown Lawrence (701 Massachusetts St). The Eldridge Hotel began its tenure as the Free State Hotel in 1855. It was destroyed twice in raids by pro-slavery forces and rebuilt each time by Colonel Eldridge. In the years since, the hotel changed ownership and was revitalized several times. Most recently, the hotel's apartment units were remodeled into hotel suites and the Eldridge reopened for business as a hotel in 2005. It now offers various amenities, room and suites, dining and other services, and hosts wedding receptions.
