Description: The Centre for Neuroscience was established in 1999 within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences to provide a strategic focus for neuroscience research at the University of Melbourne and to build on a strong and established research base. The Centre brings together the breadth of neuroscience excellence in inner Melbourne and applies the scientific and clinical resources available in a coordinated approach to the many and varied problems within the broad field of neuroscience.

Description: The AFV Centre for Rheumatic Diseases was founded in 1995 as a joint venture between the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the University of Melbourne. Each partner has contributed its expertise to support the Centre, recognising the importance of rheumatic diseases and the need to improve the academic profile of Rheumatology in Victoria.

Description: The University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is responsible for teaching Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal Paediatrics, to undergraduate medical students. Currently, each year approximately 250 medical students spend 9 weeks attached to the Department during the fifth year of their medical course. In addition, there are a number of higher degree students pursuing full-time or part-time research through the Department. These include Advanced Medical Science, Doctor of Medicine, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy students.
