Description: The Southwest School of Art (SSA) was founded in 1965 as the Southwest Craft Center (SCC) in downtown San Antonio. In 1970, the SCC acquired the former campus of the Ursuline Academy and expanded their course offerings. In 1997 the school changed its name to the Southwest School of Art and Craft in recognition of a shift away from community classes and toward a more traditional arts education curriculum. in 2013 the SSA gained accreditation and began offering BFA degrees.
