Title: WHO | Arguments in favour of compulsory treatment of opioid dependence

URL: http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/91/2/12-108860/en/

Collection: Opioid Epidemic web archive

Description: In this 2013 article in the Bulletin of the World Health Organization (WHO), Zunyou Wu of the Chinese Center for Disease Control argues against the position of WHO and several other United Nations (UN) agencies that member states close compulsory drug detention and rehab centers. Wu argues that such centers should be one part of a harm reduction strategy aimed at curing opioid dependence and getting addicts back into society.
