MOVICE director, Ivan Cepeda Castro, has had to live in exhile twice due to death threats associated with his work denouncing state terrorism in Colombia. Criminal charges for libel and diffamation have also been made against him for his work exposing the links between governemnt officials and paramilitary forces. The Institute documents all types of human rights violations in El Salvador, with a particular emphasis in documenting human rights violations as a result of state violence (during the civil war) and providing legal aid to victims. IDHUCA's members are in a precarious security situation because El Salvador's government is notorious for its efforts at detering any investigations or information on human rights violations. Description: In Spanish. Official government website for the ombudsman of Colombia. Contains news, publications, photographs, audio and video materials, and an event calendar. The Procuraduría oversees state employees in their exercise of their public duties. Within the ongoing peace process between the state and paramilitry forces, the Procuraduría is charged with promoting participatory mechanisms for the victims. They are organizing a project that archives the non-judicial materials produced in the course of the prosecution of paramilitary crimes: testimonies, objects, photographs. Organization has limited funding and security concerns associated with what is a highly controversial peace process between the state and the paramilitaries. Links between paramilitary forces and state agents have been publicly denounced, and in certain cases proved in court.
