Carries out forensic investigations to aid the justice system and the families of those disappeared in denouncing and establishing the facts related to human rights violations during Guatemala's violent internal conflict. From 1992-2008, FAFG conducted 946 forensic anthropological investigations related to massacres, arbitrary executions, paramilitary activities, general crime, disasters, forced disappearances, and femicide. FAFG maintains a database with maps, photos, figures and some information on the investigations they have conducted as well as PDFs with their forensic manuals and reviews of their publications reporting on their investigations. Fredy Peccerelli, Omar Girón, José Suassnavar y Leonel Paiz, members of FAFG, received email death threats in May 2008. FAFG has been active since 1997, and its members' security has been compromised since 2002. In their website they document some of these threats. In February 2008, Giron and Peccerelli received death threats to themselves and their families via cellphone.
