Collection: Shakespeare Festivals and Theatrical Companies
Description: In 1951, the year of the Festival of Britain, the Southend Shakespeare Company (sscwebmaster@southendshakespeare.co.uk) was formed for the study and performance of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Over the years this program has been extended to include more of the classics. Currently, the SSC is one of the few theatre groups in south-east England, professional or amateur, that dedicates itself to performing plays from a classical repertoire.
