Lift Up Windsor Park archived website

Description:

The Lift Up Windsor Project Collection (approximately 2020-2023) contains digitized copies of North Las Vegas, Nevada City Council meeting minutes, geological and environmental impact statements, and other types of documentation originally published from the 1950s to 2010s that were collected by Sebastian Ross, graduate student at UNLV's Boyd School of Law and an archived version of the Lift up Windsor Park project website. Assemblywoman Dina Neal (now Nevada State Senator) led the project, which included faculty and students from UNLV's film department and law school, to research and advocate for Windsor Park, one of the first all-Black housing communities in North Las Vegas that was developed in the 1960s. The records in this collection represent the research material used for Windsor Park: The Sinking Streets documentary that tells the story of how the neighborhood was developed on top of an aquifer and seismic faults which have damaged homes over the past five decades.

Memorial for Queer Rhyolite archived websites

Description:

Memorial for Queer Rhyolite Papers (2019-2020) contains documentation about the temporary monument installed for the inaugural Bullfrog Biennial at the Goldwell Open Air Museum in Rhyolite, Nevada in 2019. Materials include an information pamphlet about the exhibit as well as a small aluminum-cast monument with an inscribed dedication. Digital files in this collection include photographs of the monument during and after installation, images of Budd's sketchbook, and documents about the monument including exhibit proposals and articles written by Budd. The collection also includes archived versions of Budd's personal website and two online articles written by Budd published on the Nevada Humanities website and Engaging Collections online art journal.

Archived websites represent local Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) civic and service organizations and individuals that have been interviewed as part of the oral history project. The collection includes archived websites of organizations such as the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce, the Asian-American Advocacy Clinic, Asian Community Development Council, and Thai Culture Foundation. Archived websites of individuals represented in this collection includes entrepreneur, real estate investor, and motivational speaker Lisa Song Sutton and magician Juliana Chen.

Shelley Bristol archived website

Description:

The Shelley Bristol Papers (approximately 1950 to 2023) document Bristol's experiences as an AIDS activist, sex worker, and radio show host. The materials include Bristol's personal testimony for the National Association of People with AIDS, her correspondence with the Nevadans Against Prostitution, a newsletter from WORLD (Women Organized to Respond to Life-Threatening Diseases), and notes for Bristol's personal autobiography. Also included are materials related to her blog and radio show, Madam Vanessa: Las Vegas Talk of the Town which Bristol started to share her experiences of working as a sex worker in Las Vegas in the early 1970s. Other materials include blog post drafts, radio scripts, and an archived copy of her blog. The collection also includes some personal photographs of Bristol as a child and her parents, Marilyn and Jerry Bristol.

Websites and social media sites were also selected based on the most frequently shared URLs on Twitter related to the shooting in Las Vegas. The websites in this collection were crawled and captured using Archive-It starting in October 2017. The collection is primarily comprised of articles and news stories from local, national, and international news media outlets.
