Description: "When you walk down East 69th Street between First and Second Avenues today, you can’t help but to admire how attractive the block has become in just a few short years ... The East 69th Street Association was formed in 1962 and has been responsible for much of the block’s improvement. For example, the Association has arranged for the planting of trees and plants, the posting of signs, and the improvement of police patrols. Importantly, the Association in 1964 was able to prevent the block from being re-zoned to commercial businesses, thus assuring and keeping the block a pleasant residential street. The Association continues to be involved in community activities and meets regular to discuss and decide on the issues that affects all of its citizens."

Description: "A recent spate of development threatens to change the face of our historic community with luxury housing. From the new apartments on the grounds of St. John the Divine to the former nurses residence diagonally across the street, to what's going up at Jewish Theological Seminary and Union Theological Seminary, our neighborhood is changing, and not for the better. To look into these developments, MHHDC decided to initiate the Morningside Heights Community Coalition (MHCC). This new organization consists of community groups in MSH and individual coops throughout the neighborhood who are working together to try and have an impact on these projects."

Description: "Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village were constructed for veterans returning from World War II. Its buildings are the iconic postwar development for middle-income families who wanted to build and maintain a full and fruitful life in New York City. We, as the Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association, keep as our foundation this history in mind. Our goals are to preserve our community as affordable housing for families, with proper maintenance and robust open spaces, where people at the middle of the income spectrum can live and raise a family in peace and safety."
