Description: The Episcopal Church of the Crucifixion in Upper Manhattan, Inwood, New York City, is located at 459 West 149th Street, between Convent and Amsterdam Avenues. The Church of the Crucifixion was founded by West Indians who had emigrated from the Caribbean and did not feel welcomed in the established Episcopal Churches in Harlem. The church however has never classified its parish as “A West Indian Parish,” but a Parish where all people may come and worship God in Spirit and Truth.
