Description: In the late 1930s, driven out of Europe by Hitler and his followers, a small number of German refugees who had settled in the Washington Heights section of New York joined together to establish a Minyan of their own where they could maintain their accustomed Minhagim and cherished tradition. K'hal Adath Jeshurun is an Orthodox Congregation located at 85-93 Bennett Avenue, just west of Broadway and south of 186th Street in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York.

Title: Fort Tryon Jewish Center

Description: The Fort Tryon Jewish Center is located in the Hudson Heights section of Manhattan’s Washington Heights in New York City. The center was founded in 1938 by a diverse group of people that included long-time neighborhood residents and recent Jewish immigrants escaping the maelstrom in Europe. The Center never affiliated with any denomination; it was and remains an independent congregation, proud to be a religious home for people of various Jewish backgrounds.
