Description: Archived website of the National Labor College (NLC), an AFL-CIO-affiliated college in Silver Spring, Maryland, whose stated mission is: "By establishing the physical and intellectual space for the labor movement to imagine its future, the mission of the NLC is to make higher education available to workers, to prepare union members, leaders and staff for the challenges of a changing global environment; and to serve as a center for progressive thought and learning" ("Mission and Vision," http://wayback.archive-it.org/2269/20131025175327/http://www.nlc.edu/mission.html, archived October 25, 2013). The NLC was founded as a labor studies center in 1969, and renamed the George Meany Center for Labor Studies in 1974 ("Campus History," http://wayback.archive-it.org/2269/20131025175329/http://www.nlc.edu/history.html, archived October 25, 2013). The NLC closed in 2015.
