Description: Archived website of the Southsdie Virginia Training Center (SVTC). SVTC's primary mission was to provide quality, client-centered health and habilitation services for eligible individuals with intellectual disabilities from Health Planning Region IV. In addition, the center provided administrative and environment of care services to other facilities on the Southside Campus, which included Central State Hospital, Hiram W. Davis Medical Center, and the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation. On 26 January 2012, Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell announced that a settlement agreement had been reached with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and he also announced that four of Virginia’s five training centers would be scheduled to close by 2020. Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC) closed in 2014.
