Description: ENGLISH: The oldest Muslim organization in Poland. It was founded in 1936 as an official representation and religious congregation of native Polish Muslims of Tatar descent. The current Mufti is Tomasz Miśkiewicz. Until the beginning of 21st century it was the main Muslim religious organization in Poland (apart from the Shia Ahl ul-Bayt). Its members are now mostly Tatars. Nonetheless, Muslim minorities and immigrants from the former Soviet countries also play some role in its organizational structure. Since Polish Tatars traditionally maintained relations with other Turkic groups, this heritage is now a very important part for their identity. Recently relations with Turkish TIKA state agency (eg. TIKA financed renovation of Tatar cemetery in Warsaw, as well as some other minor sites of Tatar heritage in the country). POLISH: Najstarsza organizacja muzułmańska w Polsce. Powstała w 1936 roku jako oficjalna reprezentacja i zgromadzenie religijne rodzimych polskich muzułmanów pochodzenia tatarskiego. Obecnym muftim jest Tomasz Miśkiewicz. Do początków XXI w. była to główna muzułmańska organizacja religijna w Polsce (obok szyickiego Ahl ul-Bayt). Jej członkami są obecnie głównie Tatarzy. Niemniej jednak mniejszości muzułmańskie i imigranci z krajów byłego Związku Radzieckiego również odgrywają pewną rolę w jej strukturze organizacyjnej. Ponieważ polscy Tatarzy tradycyjnie utrzymywali stosunki z innymi grupami turkijskimi, dziedzictwo to stanowi obecnie bardzo ważny element ich tożsamości.
