The Buncombe County Special Collections Library (formerly known as the North Carolina Room) is a medium-sized archival facility located on the lower level of Pack Memorial Library in Downtown Asheville. Buncombe County Special Collections specializes in the social, cultural, and natural history of Asheville, Buncombe County, and Western North Carolina.

Buncombe County Special Collections is part of Buncombe County Public Libraries, which consists of our central branch, Pack Memorial Library, in Downtown Asheville; 11 branch libraries conveniently located throughout the County; and a law library located in the County courthouse, which serves the needs of both the public and the legal community.
