Description:

UTSA Libraries Special Collections sustains the university's teaching, research, and outreach mission by preserving and providing access to valuable primary resources, and by creating digital collections for use by students and scholars at UTSA and from around the world. Through its web archiving program, Special Collections uses Archive-It 1) to regularly capture and preserve web content created by UTSA’s administrative units, academic programs, and student life groups as part of our University Archives’ collecting mandate; and 2) to capture websites of organizations and web coverage of topical events that complement and/or supplement our physical collection development strategies. For more information, see our web archiving methods and collection guidelines at: http://lib.utsa.edu/files/default/Special%20Collections/UTSAWebArchivingMethodsAndCollectionGuidelines_2016-03.pdf

URL: https://www.glsen.org/

Collection: U.S. LGBTQ Web Collection

Description: GLSEN (pronounced "glisten") was founded in 1990 by a small, but dedicated group of teachers in Massachusetts who came together to improve an education system that too frequently allows its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) students to be bullied, discriminated against, or fall through the cracks.

Title: No Name-Calling Week | GLSEN

URL: https://www.glsen.org/no-name-calling-week/

Collection: U.S. LGBTQ Web Collection

Description: Founded in 2004 with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, and evaluated by GLSEN research, No Name-Calling Week was inspired by James Howe’s novel The Misfits about students who, after experiencing name-calling, run for student council on a No Name-Calling platform. The week is rooted in the idea of #KindessInAction — not merely recognizing the importance of kindness, but actively adding kindness into our every action. See below ways to participate and put #KindnessInAction, including lesson plans for elementary, middle, and high school!
