Description: Archived website of the International Society for Music Education (ISME). ISME was established by the International Music Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1953. The original goal for ISME was to encourage music education as an integral part of general education and community life throughout the world, and as a profession within the broad field of music. The first conference was held in Lindau, Germany and Zurich, Switzerland in 1955 to transact the business of the organization and to share findings based upon research and experience in music education. Subsequent conferences were held in 1958, 1961, 1963, and biennially since 1964. Ideas are shared through workshops, demonstrations, lectures, concerts, exhibitions and social events. ISME has been represented in over 80 countries throughout the world by National Sections/Organizations which assist in transacting financial business and in sponsoring music education activities. In 1976, ISME Regional Centers began to be established to assist with these functions. Centers exist in Buenos Aires (for Latin American countries), Tokyo (for Asian countries), and Bonn (for European countries). The ISME website includes information about its vision and mission, governance, partners, membership, news, advocacy, commissions, forum, conferences, sponsors, publications, media, history, board of directors, special interest groups, awards, and social media.

Description: Archived website of the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE), an organization founded in 1975 and dedicated to the proliferation and teaching of the Kodàly method to children as well as adults within the U.S. It promotes lifelong music learning, music making, and musical education for all its members inspired by the pedagogical techniques of the Hungarian composer and educator Zoltàn Kodàly. The Kodàly Envoy, now published four times annually, has been the official publication for OAKE since its inception, providing OAKE members with current research, news, teaching strategies, and classroom resources applicable to the Kodàly method. OAKE sponsors a national conference each year, at which the National Children's Choir performs, and also sponsors a yearly summer choral camp, the Children's Choral Institute. OAKE is divided into four divisions, East, Midwest, South, and West that comprise a total of 36 chapters. These divisions and chapters sponsor workshops and activities on the local and regional levels. OAKE offers grants to the local chapters to aid in the development and execution of special projects for its members. The OAKE website includes information about its national standards, leadership, chapters and divisions, clinician and member directories, education programs, membership, national conference, publications, news, scholarships, grants, and resources for advocacy.
