Description: Archived website of the Virtual Business Information Center (VBIC), a business research resource published by the University of Maryland, College Park. VBIC was developed in 1998 by Dr. Eileen Abels (College of Information Studies) in partnership with the Robert H. Smith School of Business ("About VBIC," http://wayback.archive-it.org/2410/20120623034919/http://vbic.umd.edu/about.shtml, archived June 23, 2012). As of 2007, the site was maintained by the Smith School and the University of Maryland Libraries. In 2014, the VBIC was moved to the Libraries subdomain (https://www.lib.umd.edu/vbic). The VBIC includes research sources organized around the topics industry, company, product, demographics and statistics, country research, economics, entrepreneurship, finance and investment, industry and marketing. The site also includes information about databases, search help, news sources, off-campus access, and other resources.
