Description: Archived website of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO). NISO was founded in 1939 as the Z39 Committee which was responsible for developing standards which affect various aspects of librarianship, documentation, publishing practice, and information science; in 1984 the organization changed its name to National Information Standards Organization Z39. The NISO website includes information about its standards, topics, publications, news, events, membership, workrooms, annual reports, and strategic planning. The site hosts a blog and a members-only area.
