Collection: Shakespeare Festivals and Theatrical Companies
Description: Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company (PO Box 520, Santa Clara, CA 95052) is committed to making Shakespeare accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds and to building community through cultural participation. Their mission is to share the works of William Shakespeare in a way that demystifies the rich and challenging language of Shakespeare without dumbing it down. Shady Shakespeare (a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization) is operated entirely by volunteers whose duties include everything from set and costume production, to fundraising, to concession sales, and much more. Silicon Valley Shakespeare was formed in 1999 by Sara Betts, Dinna Myers, and Jeff Day as Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company. The company was dedicated to providing more opportunities for artists to perform and audiences to experience Shakespeare and other classic works.
