Operated by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services, SWVT provided a broad range of residential, habitative, and medical services to persons with intellecutal disabilities from Southwest Virginia. SWVTC ceased to operate as a training center on 31 August 2018, after the individuals who former resided there were placed in various community homes in the region.
