Description: As we hunker down at home to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, some of us may find ourselves in a room we’ve rarely occupied before: the kitchen. In many ways, the pandemic has changed our relationship with food. We can’t eat in restaurants. We aren’t spending Sunday dinners with the folks. Quick dashes to the grocery store have been replaced by once-a-week (or less frequent) excursions to stock up. Some of us are watching our expenses more closely than ever as a result of loss of income. Despite the challenges, there are easy ways to adapt to our temporary new reality.

Or meeting in parking lots and socializing from their cars. It’s a physical-distancing loophole that might be tempting, especially as the weather begins to warm up, but Dr. Marcia Anderson, a medical officer of health for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, is pretty frank on the subject. Description: The eeriest part of the pandemic has been in the way every time you leave the house, you discover something that’s changed in big or subtle ways. Description: Faith communities are usually safe sanctuaries when the world seems bleak. Description: Opening doors is the easy part. That’s just a matter of hard work and decree. Now is the time to get a haircut, play a few rounds of golf and have that elective surgery. Now is the time to take the kids to the museum, to pitch a tent at a public campground, to sip wine on the cafe patio down the street. Well, you can do those things now, at least. You may not want to, but the option is there once more. It will be different, of course.
