Description: Governor Ralph Northam broke ground on a $300 million project to widen 7.4 miles of Route 58 in Patrick County over Lovers Leap Mountain. The project begins 0.7 mile north of Stuart and extends to 0.3 mile east of Route 610 (Cloudbreak Road). The groundbreaking ceremony was held at Fred Clifton Park in Meadows of Dan at an overlook near Route 58 in late September 2021. It marks the next phase of a larger project to create a continuous four-lane highway between Virginia Beach and Interstate 77.

Description: Join us as we celebrate the reopening of Green Pastures Recreation Area as an outpost of Douthat State Park. This live event will include remarks by Governor Ralph Northam, Secretary of Agriculture Bettina Ring, US Forest Service Associate Chief Angela Coleman, NRCS Regional Conservationist, Southeast, James E. Tillman, Sr., DCR Director Clyde Cristman, State Parks Director Dr. Melissa Baker and the Mayor of Clifton Forge, Pamela Marshall. The event will also feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the historic signing of a Shared Stewardship agreement between the Commonwealth of Virginia and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
